Two terrorists carried out a suicide attack on an army company at Pargal in Darhal area of ​​Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, news agency ANI reported on Wednesday. Both the terrorists have been killed while three army personnel have also lost their lives. The area has been cordoned off and additional forces have been sent to the base.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh said, "Some terrorists tried to cross the fence of the army camp in Pargal. The sentry challenged and opened fire."

The attack took place a few days before the celebration of the 75th Independence Day. A day earlier, three Lashkar terrorists were gunned down by security forces in Budgam. One of the slain terrorists was involved in the killing of civilians Rahul Bhat and Amrin Bhat.

Rajouri district and other parts of the Jammu region have largely been free from militancy, but a series of terrorist-related incidents have taken place in Jammu in the past six months.

Police said the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group is behind today's special attack.

The attack comes a day after a major tragedy was averted by recovering 25 kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Union Territory's Pulwama district.
