Innovating and leading: Indian college students develop one-of-a-kind wireless charging system for electric cars The engineers of Meerut university even raised funds from govt.
With the invention of two students of Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), now electric vehicles will now be able to cover long distances like diesel and petrol vehicles.
Their method is to use roadside towers, which will act as chargers. As the car comes within range of the tower, the car will be able to charge its battery.
It is being said that at the moment the range and speed are not that much and are working on improving it. It is very similar to wireless technology. This new innovation allows electric vehicles to be charged wirelessly.
The range of the receiver is not much, but they are engaged on it to increase its charging speed. They are saying that the technology should not be much different from the Wi-Fi charging technology used in smartphones as we speak.
The proposal has been sent to NITI Aayog, which has provided financial assistance of Rs 20,000.
Sagar Kumar and Rohit Rajbhar said, “We thought of the idea of Wireless Electric Vehicles Charging System long back, but were facing difficulties as we were not getting help from any side.”
Mahadev Pandey, a senior scientist at the Regional Center for Science and Technology, said the technique works on electromagnetic force systems. However, he said that technology can help in the development of the nation provided its extent is improved
