School going AIMIM MLAs son , relative and 4 other minos arrested for rapping girl in luxury car after getting her drunk
Last week, BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao had released a video clip and photographs of the teen and her assailants, alleging the presence of the MLA's son in a car with her.
The case had turned sensational over the past week, because of the involvement of members of politically influential families. Many including leaders of the BJP had been alleging that the police were delaying arrests as they were acting under political pressure from the ruling TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) and AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen).
The first five have been accused under sections of gangrape, abduction, voluntarily causing hurt as also sections of the POCSO Act, meaning they could get a death penalty, 20 years in jail or a lifetime in jail.
The sixth has been accused outraging modesty of a woman, voluntarily causing hurt and also sexual assault.
"We have booked them under the stringent sections, so they get maximum punishment for this heinous crime," said Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand.
A group of schoolboys assaulted the teen inside a car as she was leaving a pub. A ride had been offered to her by one of the boys. CCTV footage showing the girl standing outside the pub with the suspected attackers has gone viral. She was assaulted inside her car in Hyderabad’s affluent Jubilee Hills neighbourhood.
One of the minors apprehended by police is the son of a local leader of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi party in the state. Another minor is the son of a Sanga Reddy politician.
The police had stated that the accused are Class 11 and 12 students, allegedly belonging to “politically influential” families.
